New events, having new parts of the school open and new students added, etc. Stats and the like are to be added after, so you can test their gameplay merit. Focus primarily on the Hitman-assassination core gameplay. Scrap all the Yakuza-style minigames, if someone wants to play DDR they will do so, minigames work in a big budget open world game, but in this kind of game they bloat the design of the game and are honestly not worth doing as an indie developer.
On the other hand, they should earnestly listen to criticism and reflect on how it matters to the game, could it help improve the game further or is it a matter of ignorance? Why does this person not understand this point that they're criticizing? Is it a fault of the game not providing enough context for its players? Etc. Getting sucked into the clout can cloud judgement, change the purpose of working on the game, it can result in adding things for the sake of the community rather than the good of the game or the accuracy of the setting/genre, etc. Lastly, the team needs to not give into their fanbase. There needs to be a dedicated team, no volunteers unless it's a one off occasion or something minor. That means lots of communication, planning, proposals, and rejections. They'd need to be developing this game out of passion or love, not out of pride or spite, and they'd need to be a good project lead or be a part of a good development team. If anyone wants to make an improved version of Yandere Simulator, then it'd be better to scrap everything that was set out and start fresh with some of the iconic characters, like Ayano or Midori. If anyone criticizes his decisions in writing, designing, naming, programming, anything, he shuts them down and censors them without taking any of it in mind. The reason Yandere Simulator isn't very good is because of its foundations Mahan isn't a good project lead nor is he a good developer, the story and the designs were not planned out beforehand and are winged in as the year goes by, the team is composed entirely of volunteers meaning there isn't a consistent level of quality and there's no guarantee of volunteers staying on the project, Yandere Simulator-much like many of its fangames-was originally a clout chasing game that has since turned into Mahan's personal playground of what makes him feel good and superior. That one actually released and has a plot, but I haven’t played it.
Yandere Simulator the OG is the best we’ll ever get for this concept unfortunately.ĮDIT: Actually I just remembered Yandere Highschool exists, I think that’s the name anyway. Someone like that is unlikely to arise, and even if they do I don’t see why they would want to remake Yandere Simulator of all games instead of creating something unique. If the person who starts the project gets bored and quits it’s dead in the water, so that person also needs to be very disciplined. The game needs someone very experienced at game design to fix its basic concept, and then to start hiring people to help. Spiteful (having such a weak motivation means you’re way more likely to burn out and quit) Very young (12-25 years old, with very few at the upper end) Whether this type of game is even possible to create by an indie team aside, the types of people who would even attempt it are not the types who could succeed. There have been at least 20 attempts at doing this exact thing and they have universally failed to remain a 3D simulation game.
